      Great place to buy new and used cars. Great salespeople, friendly, went out of their way to get me into the car I wanted. Service Department is good. They are a AAA Service shop. They explained everything about the repairs needed. Set up an appointment, they will help you get a rental or loaner vehicle. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a Ford vehicle. Even throw cookouts on Friday’s for staff and customers. No worries here. Excellent Ford Dealership. Award winners for years. Best Dealership I ever had the pleasure of purchasing. They also got great financing for me.

      Let me explain why I provided 5 stars for Gene Butman Ford Service Department. I went to a different dealership in Livonia (Bill Brown) last week for a transmission issue I was having (hard downshifting). I dropped it off on a Thursday and I received a call the next day with a message indicating that it was done. I went to the dealership a couple days later to pick it up and one of the service people told me that he “test drove” the vehicle. He proceeded to tell me that “it was fine” and he couldn’t replicate the problem. He went onto say…….”I know enough about cars to tell you that this isn’t a serious issue”. And this service guy tried to sell me an extended warranty.

      As I was driving the vehicle home that day, the transmission was still having the same problem, actually it was worse! I called ford directly (the vehicle was still under manufacturer warranty) to report this issue and they informed me that they would call Gene Butman in Ypsilanti to help me (they were recommended from corporate).

      I ended up taking the vehicle to Gene Butman the next day. I received a call from Service the very same day, and they told me that they went for a quick test drive. It was mentioned that they felt the issue while driving and the diagnostic machine they hooked up displayed irregular shifting so they put it up on the hoist. Turns out my transmission was leaking!!! and I was really low on trans fluid. One of the seals was cracked and spilling fluid. It was mentioned that if I were to have let that go…..it would have been a terrible situation.

      Also, Gene Butman told me that this vehicle had a manufacturer recall in a steering bolt. Why didn’t Bill Brown tell me this? Why didn’t Bill Brown follow procedure? Not only did Gene Butman fix the transmission and top off my fluids, they also fixed the recall and told me that if I experienced any other issues at any time, to please let them know and they would take care of it.

      Bill Brown is way too big and too busy to deal with these matters the correct way. I would NEVER recommend Bill Brown dealership to anyone. I actually had a friend tell me yesterday that we was thinking about taking his car there (being that he lives in Livonia)….I told him “NO!!!”.

      I told my friend to take it to Gene Butman in Ypsilanti. By far….the best service I have ever had in my entire life! Everyone I worked with there in the service department, were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. 5 stars all the way!

      I have used Gene Butman Ford for oil changes only. I lease my cars from North Brothers Ford because I love my sales person there, however I work in Ann Arbor and so it is very convenient to drop my car off and use the shuttle service to get to work. So far it has worked out well, no issues. The shuttle drivers have been very lovely and flexible with picking me up and bringing me back. If things continue to go well I might use them for additional services in the future.

      I am 57 years old and own a 2016 King Ranch and purchased the extended warranty. After 3 years of perfect operation both the driver and passenger side power running boards began to malfunction. Gene Butman Service offered to do an external power wash and lube them for about $100 dollars and said that is what they initially do to get them operational again. I asked what they would do if it happened again next month. They replied they would charge me for the same service every time I brought it in, as long as they can get them to go up and down they consider them fixed. They then provided me with a service bulletin that provided me information on how to do it myself. I have my own power washer and compressor. I noticed rusting bushings or something in the narrow gap of the hinges. It looks as if the exterior part of the bushing of sleeve is swelling because of rust. The passenger side is working for now but the driver side would not go back up until I forced it up when activated. They also told me that I could safely drive around with them extended in the out position but even with the setting on “off” or “out” once I hit 5 mph they retract. I guess I’ll just be happen I can keep them retracted. The problem with that is my wife has problems getting in and out of the truck. Expensive truck, expensive extended warranty, typical Ford service.

      I was having the worst luck with my car and was feeling so defeated after taking my car to different dealerships without any luck resolving my problem. Everyone at Gene Butman was so kind and helpful. I often spoke with Mel in the auto body shop, and he was so patient and extremely nice! He got me right into a great rental vehicle while they fixed my car. I really appreciate him taking his time to explain everything to me and he ALWAYS called me back when he said he would. Thank you all for your help!! Overall good experience for a bad situation.
